Trupanion’s founder and CEO, Darryl Rawlings, contributed to founding the North American Pet Health Insurance Company (NAPHIA) which Trupanion is also a member of. NAPHIA promotes the highest professional and ethical standards in the pet industry with and wants to promote pet insurance to provide better lives for pets and their owners. Their high-deductible policies were the first to receive the AAHA Seal of Acceptance.

Trupanion offers one comprehensive pet insurance plan that covers up to 90% of all vet bills, including:

• Injuries
• Unexpected accidents
• Hospitalization
• Medication
• Hereditary and congenital conditions as long as they are not pre-existing
• Therapeutic Pet Foods

Pre-existing conditions are not covered.

What is not included in plans?:

• Pre-existing conditions
• Exam fees
• Wellness
• Preventative care (including vaccines, dental cleanings and flea treatments
• Hip dysplasia and alternative therapies unless purchased as an optional benefit

Any vet can be used.

Policy Duration:

12 months.

Deductible:

Deductibles per incident. Option for 0$ lifetime per-incident deductible or deductibles ranging from $50 to $1000.

Pricing:

Starts at $12/month. Pricing depends on add ons, breed of pet, location, etc. They have no payout limits meaning pets receive unlimited lifetime pet insurance coverage and does not impose any per incident limits, annual limits or lifetime limits on the amount of care pets can receive.
