ASPCA Pet Health insurance is offered by the Hartville Group, Inc. ASPCA (American Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals) has a long history and was America’s first animal welfare organization.

It started fighting animal cruelty in 1866 when it was founded by Henry Bergh to provide support for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States. Today, this humane society has more than 1 million supporters across the country. As pet insurance is an important tool to support pet parents in affording medical care for their pets, ASPCA chose Hartville, one of the oldest and largest pet insurance providers in the US, as its strategic partner for pet insurance. Hartville is committed to pet health and to upholding the ASPCA’s standards for the humane treatment of animals.

Underwritten by the United States Fire Insurance Company. The Hartville Group, Inc. provides pet insurance through its subsidiary, Petsmarketing Insurance.com Agency, Inc.. Pet insurance plans are offered through three different brand names: ASPCA Pet Health Insurance, Hartville Pet Insurance, and Petshealth Care Plan. Offered in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

What is covered?:
Hartville/ASPCA offer four different level of protection for cats and dogs. All four levels offer a reimbursement of 90% of all vet bills. Dogs must be at least 8 weeks-13 years old to enroll. Cats must be at least 8 weeks – 15 years old.
Level 1 includes:
• Ongoing Conditions (e.g. allergies, cancer or diabetes)
• Unexpected Accidents
Level 2 includes above, plus:
• Illnesses
Level 3 includes all of the above, plus
• Hereditary and congenital diseases
• Alternative therapies
• Behavioral treatments
Level 4 includes all of Level 3’s benefits, plus:
• Higher benefits
Moreover, wellness coverage may be added to Level 3 and 4 plans. These can routine wellness procedures (e.g. wellness exams, spay/neuter treatments, vaccines and dental treatments) or advanced wellness procedures (provides same as routine wellness procedures, but allows higher claims).
Are pre-existing conditions covered?:
Pre-existing conditions are not covered. If pre-existing conditions are considered curable and the last treatment for this condition was over 180 days ago, the condition might be covered.
What is not included in plans?:
• Pre-existing conditions
• Inhumane treatment
• Breeding
• Pregnancy
• Grooming
• Special foods or nutritional supplements
• Alternative therapies
• Foreign object ingestions (if more than once per policy term)
• Dental injuries (unless resulting from accident or injury)

Any vet can be used.

Annual Deductibles $100.
Pricing:
Starts at $10.00/months. Price depends on level chosen, breed, location, age, etc. Plans don’t have a maximum or lifetime payout, but have maximum incident payouts depending on the level. The Level 2 Incident Limit is $3,000, for the Level 3 Incident limit is $5,000 and the Level 4 Incident limit $7,000. Annual benefit limit: $13,000 and the Co-Pay: 10%.
