PetPartners history began in the 1980s when John Spurling developed a pet health insurance for the Kennel Club of Britain which then became one the leading pet health insurance providers. He later launched PetPartners in the UK and in the US.
AKC Pet Healthcare Plan Overview
Its first pet health policy was in the US was sold in 2003, but has over 30 years of experience in insuring dogs and cats. Since 2003, PetPartners has partnered with the American Kennel Club and is available through AKC Pet Healthcare Plans. Moreover, in 2004, PetPartners added the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) to its partners and has provided insurance to its members. In 2009, PetPartners started offering its products to individuals and groups, such as associations and businesses.

Cats and Dogs.
What is covered?:
Dogs must be at least 8 weeks of age and cats 10 weeks, or under 9 years old to enroll. There are 5 different plans offered by the AKC, including Wellness Plus, Wellness, Essential Plus, Essential and Accident Plus.
Wellness Plus includes:

Essential Plus:

Essential:
• Same as Essential Plus but lower maximum claim
Accident Plus (no upper age limit)

Policy Duration:
12 months.
Deductible:
Most plans have an annual deductible ($125 per incident), except for Essential Plan which has an incident deductible ($125 per incident). Accident Plus has a deductible of 75$ per incident.
Pricing:
Starts at $16. Includes a 60-day trial. Pricing depends on plan, location, species, breed, etc. AKC ‘s annual payouts range from $1,500 – $13,000 depending on chosen plan. Their maximum incident payouts which range from $500 – $5000 depending on the plan chosen. Additional Information:
AKC claims to offer the richest “wellness” benefits, including annual dental cleanings, vaccines and flea/tick/heartworm control for 12 months based on pets’ weights. Reimbursement levels are kept simple to make this insurance one of the less confusing pet insurances.
